Have you ever wondered why no matter what you achieve, you don’t feel enough? There’s this visible barrier that hit every single time no matter what you do, that inner critic that just doesn’t go away, even when things are going well.
The truth is, feeling not enough isn’t actually about whether you are good or not. It’s about what you believe about yourself. You could be the best in the world at something but if you don’t believe you are enough, then you will only go so far.
Here are 5 things you do because you don’t fully believe you’re enough (and how to start shifting that).
You compare yourself to others
You scroll through social media, see someone doing what you dream of doing, and suddenly feel jealous, coming up with all the reasons why they are doing it and you aren’t, even when you know you can do it better. Comparison keeps you in a cycle of lack because it convinces you that someone else’s success means less for you. But the truth? There’s no set limit of the amount of success that everyone can have, rather than looking at these people as proof you can’t do something, starting looking at them as proof that you can too.
You struggle to celebrate your wins
When you achieve something, instead of taking a moment to celebrate, your mind immediately goes to the next goal. This happens because your subconscious has linked achievement with worth, so there’s never a moment to rest or feel content. You may even think what you did wasn’t a big deal so why worth celebrating? Pause. Acknowledge yourself, even for the little things. You’re allowed to celebrate how far you’ve come without needing to prove anything.
You overthink every decision
When you don’t feel enough, you often don’t trust yourself either. You replay conversations, second-guess choices, and worry what others will think. Even the smallest of decisions take up more time and energy then they should, leaving you constantly exhausted. But your intuition already knows the right answer, it’s just been drowned out by self doubt. Start with small acts of self-trust and follow through. You’ll rebuild that inner confidence one decision at a time.
You people please to feel worthy
You say yes when you want to say no. You carry everyone else’s emotions, trying to keep the peace.
You’ve learned that love and approval are earned through being “good,” “helpful,” or “easy to be around.” But real worthiness isn’t conditional. The right people will still love you when you have boundaries. People will treat you the way you treat yourself, so if you don’t show them that you value yourself, why should they?
You tie your worth to external things
You’re always seeking the next new shiny thing that going to change it all. But every time you get the thing it feels good for a little while, then the shine wears off and you find yourself seeking the next thing. Its a vicious cycle that leaves you a constant rollercoaster of hits and lows. Your worth is never, in in the external world, its internal. It’s who you already are. Yes, its lovely to have nice things but with or without them, you will still be you and that is more then enough.
Feeling enough can show up in so many ways and I could go on all day adding to this list to the ways it could show up for you. But the overriding factor is, no matter what the symptom may be, you are always enough and the moment you start to believe that, even just a little bit to start with, is the moment that that barrier starts to melt away and the world around you changes for the better.
If this resonated with you and you’re ready to start believing in yourself again then I’d love to connect and chat about how I support you to do that.
